all about Daniel

I am excited about things that are happening and very excited about things to come.  I have many passions, among them are skiing, biking, music, and green design.  I've completed a solo 24 hr mt. bike race, volunteered with a busy mountain rescue unit, and worked as a brewer and substitute teacher.  I love to travel and see different cultures.  I've made mistakes and am not embarrassed by them.  I've learned from them.

Rocky Mt. High Winter Wedding Film, Rachel & Moe

Why do people want to get married in Colorado?  I think I know some of the reasons, but more importantly, I really don’t care why they do, I just care that they do.  Because I am part of the wedding industry, as a wedding filmmaker, I love helping out those who want to get married in my incredible backyard.  The mountains are gorgeous in the summer.  They’re gorgeous in the winter (just a little colder).  The streams are babbling, the elk are elking and the sun shines a little brighter.  Everywhere you look are fit people, on a morning run, pushing their perfect children in the Burly running stroller, with Fido, the lab, running along on his leash.  Maybe they’ll stop in at Clint’s for that morning coffee that tastes just a little stronger and a lot better that their Starbuck’s at home.  Oh yeah, you may as well get one of those “to-die-for” blueberry muffins while you’re in there.  They make ‘em right there and you earned it by running four miles, at this crazy elevation.

The sky is bluer, the puffy clouds are whiter, and all those peaks are just begging you to put on those old leather hiking boots and come hiking on them.  Yeah, Colorado is pretty darn awesome, we’re famous for our mountains.  And I’m so excited to help people plan all their activities in the mountains while they’re here for an awesome destination wedding.  I consider it an honor to help people with all the little things they are wondering about, with everyone coming from all over the country, and the world.  There are a lot of questions that pop up when you’re planning a wedding above 9,000 feet.  Will it snow in July?  Will Grandad be able to breathe?  Are there enough hotel rooms for my complete group?  Don’t worry, we can figure it all out.

My real question is, Why wouldn’t you want to get married here.  We have all the resources in place, all the vendors you need, and all the scenery you can handle.  You can hike, bike, raft, play, climb, ski, run, zipline, cave, kayak and bungee jump.  Maybe not all in the same day, but we can make a serious effort to do it, if you really want to.  Having worked as a mountain guide for quite a few years, I know why people come to Colorado.  The mountains.  They come for what they don’t have at home.  We have the best mountains around.  We have well over 300 sunny days a year.  And we have enough to do in those mountains, that you’ll wonder why you live where you do.  Before I start sounding too snobbish though, I’m going to stop.  But it is gorgeous here.  Come check it out.

Rachel & Moe did.  They wanted to be married in the mountains.  In the winter.  Who would’ve known?  They live in Florida, but wanted to have a destination wedding in the wonderful Rocky Mts. They had their big reception a month later in their own hometown in Florida, and played their full wedding movie to the assembled crowd.  Friends and family loved it.  I loved them.  They were so laid back and easy to work with, they would’ve fit right in as locals.  Moe likes to ride motorcycles though, and I don’t think the mountains have enough warm weather for him.  Come back in the summer though Moe, and you’ll find some roads that will blow you away.  There is a reason every rider out there wants to ride in the mountains eventually.

Destination weddings are what we do here at Daniel Dunn Productions.  If you want to get married in the mountains, especially in Colorado, give us a call or email.  Ask questions.  We love to help.  We know the ropes.  We can tell you where to get oxygen for Grandad (or your brother who drank too much last night).  We’ll tell you the best place to rent killer mt. bikes and where the best coffee is.  Believe me, I know.

Leave some comments for Rachel and Moe.  Let ‘em know what you think of their highlight movie.  And come back in the summer with ‘em.  Thanks for reading.
